Allergen-free fragrances built with sensitive skin in mind

Allergen-free fragrances are designed to minimise or avoid common fragrance allergens, making them ideal for sensitive applications such as baby care, skincare, and other daily-use products. These fragrances offer brands a safer, more inclusive fragrance alternative.

At Carvansons, we create allergen-free fragrance solutions using careful ingredient selection and expert formulation, ensuring fragrances remain appealing, stable, and effective while meeting consumer demand for gentler, transparency-led products.

Fragrance allergens

What are Fragrance Allergens?

Some chemicals used to create fragrances are classified as allergens. These allergenic chemicals can occur in some synthetic aromatic materials but also naturally within essential oils.

An allergenic chemical is an aroma chemical, natural or synthetic, which has been proven to cause an allergic reaction.

Learn more about fragrance categories

Amber

Amber is a classic and complex fragrance category in perfumery, valued for its rich, warm and often mysterious character. It can also refer to a specific fragrance note found across many scent types, including perfumes and aftershaves. Amber accords are frequently blended with other fragrance families, such as floriental compositions, to create deeper and more distinctive scent profiles.

Wood

Woody fragrances are a warm and versatile category in perfumery, known for their rich, natural and grounding character. Built around notes such as sandalwood, cedarwood, vetiver and patchouli, they often evoke a sense of depth, warmth and sophistication. Commonly used as base notes, woody accords add structure, longevity and balance to fragrances, making them a key component in both fine fragrance and functional scent compositions.

Floral

Floral fragrances are one of the most iconic and widely used categories in perfumery, celebrated for their soft, elegant and romantic character. Inspired by flowers such as rose, jasmine, lily, lavender and peony, they can range from fresh and delicate to rich and opulent. Floral accords often form the heart of a fragrance, bringing warmth, femininity and timeless appeal to both fine fragrance and everyday scented products.

Citrus

Citrus is a vibrant fragrance category known for its zesty, energetic and uplifting character, often associated with freshness and positivity. It includes fruits such as lemon, lime, orange, grapefruit and clementine, as well as aromatic materials like bergamot, lemongrass and verbena. These bright, sparkling notes are widely used to bring freshness to fragrances, adding lightness when blended with deeper accords or enhancing complexity and elegance in fine fragrance compositions.

Green

Green fragrances are a fresh and natural category in perfumery, inspired by the crisp, dewy scent of leaves, stems and freshly cut grass. Featuring notes such as galbanum, green tea, basil and violet leaf, they evoke a sense of vitality, outdoors and clean freshness. Often used to add brightness and realism to a composition, green accords bring a light, invigorating character to both fine fragrance and functional scent applications.

Aromatic

Aromatic fragrances are a fresh and invigorating category in perfumery, characterised by herbaceous and spicy notes. Built around ingredients such as lavender, rosemary, sage and thyme, they often convey a clean, natural and energising feel. Commonly used in both masculine and unisex compositions, aromatic accords add freshness, depth and sophistication to a wide range of fragrance creations.

Leather

Leather fragrances are a rich and distinctive category in perfumery, known for their deep, smoky and often sensual character. Inspired by the scent of tanned leather, they are typically recreated using notes such as birch tar, labdanum and smoky resins. Frequently used as base accords, leather notes add warmth, intensity and sophistication, bringing a bold and luxurious edge to fragrance compositions.
